During the first quarter of 2026, Wellspring Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia ranked as the second largest nursing facility in Canyon County, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The provider maintained 120 licensed beds, which exceeds the Canyon County average by 31 as of the first quarter of 2026. It cared for a daily average of 94.4 residents in that time frame.

Wellspring Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia received a CMS overall rating of 4 out of 5, outpacing the 3.2 average for Idaho nursing homes.

For the quarter, Meadow View Nursing and Rehabilitation was the largest in the county, reporting 122 available beds. Canyon West of Cascadia was third, with 103 available beds.

Wellspring Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia incurred one fine totaling $30,927 and was subject to one penalty as of the first quarter of 2026.

Seven for-profit nursing homes operated in Canyon County, Idaho, during this period.

Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau indicate the nation’s population of older adults continues to grow while younger age groups decline. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans aged 65 and over rose by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population has increased substantially, from 4.9 million in 1920 to above 61 million in 2024.

A study from 2021 estimates close to half of those over 65, or about 28 million individuals, may need some form of long-term services and supports. The report also projects that more than one-third of this group could ultimately require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
