Current Outlook
The Boise Foothills are predicted to receive rain and snow at various elevations in the coming days. Please remember to stay off muddy trails to prevent long-term damage to the Ridge to Rivers Trail System. If you’re making tracks, it’s time to turn around and find another place to recreate. Using trails when they are muddy is the leading cause of trail damage on the Ridge to Rivers system due to the high clay content in the soil in many popular reserves.
Ridge to Rivers recommends using all-weather trails throughout the system when it’s wet. Visit our website for a list of all-weather trail recommendations, in addition to a list of trails to avoid when conditions are marginal. Paved park paths and the Boise River Greenbelt are also a great option this time of year.
For trail updates and muddy trail etiquette information, follow Ridge to Rivers on Facebook or bookmark the Ridge to Rivers homepage. Trail condition updates are posted regularly during the fall, winter and spring months.

The newly completed Eagle Ridge Loop in Military Reserve is a good option when conditions are muddy along other popular trails. It’s accessible from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation Bike Park and Military Reserve dog park area. Click here to view this trail on the Ridge to Rivers interactive map.
