City of Boise Seeking Applicants for Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee, Parks and Recreation Commission Openings

Applicants

City of Boise issued the following announcement on April 4.

Development Impact Advisory Committee Openings

The city’s Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee is an essential part of the city’s planning and budgeting processes. The committee reviews matters pertaining to multi-year capital improvement plans and impact fees. Impact fees are charges assessed for the impact that new development has on the City of Boise’s regional, community and neighborhood parks as well as the fire response system and police system.

Committee members represent a cross-section of the Boise community and serve as an advisory body to Mayor Lauren McLean and the Boise City Council on land use assumptions, capital improvement plans and the implementation of development impact fees. These two open positions are a valuable way to give back to the community while having a front row seat to how the city plans for the future as Boise grows.

There are currently two openings on the committee that is made up of up to nine voting members. Residents with backgrounds or experience in finance, real estate, construction management, urban planning and development or related fields are encouraged to apply. The city is looking for the committee to represent, as much as possible, the diverse spectrum of people who enjoy all that Boise has to offer. These two new committee members must be residents of the City of Boise and each will serve a three-year volunteer term.

Meeting frequency: The committee meets once a month and meetings are typically held the second Wednesday of the month starting at 12 p.m.

Parks and Recreation Commission Openings

The Parks and Recreation Commission reviews matters pertaining to the planning, development, improvement and maintenance of Boise public parks, playgrounds, urban forestry, recreation facilities, programming, open space and more.

This is a unique volunteer opportunity providing board members experience in recreational programming, park planning and issues that directly impact residents’ quality of life.

Like the Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee, Parks and Recreation Commission board members represent a cross-section of the Boise community and serve as an advisory body to mayor and council.

There is currently one opening on the commission that has up to eight voting members. Residents with backgrounds or experience in recreation programing, urban planning and development, environmental education, community engagement, outdoor advocacy or related fields are encouraged to apply. This new commission member can be a resident of the City of Boise or the city’s Area of Impact and will serve a three-year volunteer term.

Meeting frequency: The commission meets once every month and meeting are typically held the third Thursday of each month starting at 4 p.m.
