In the opening months of 2026, Canyon West of Cascadia ranked as the third largest nursing home facility in Canyon County, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.
The facility offered 103 beds, outnumbering the county’s average by 14 as of the first quarter of 2026. Its resident census averaged 72.9 individuals during this time frame.
Canyon West of Cascadia received an overall CMS rating of 4 out of 5, surpassing the Idaho nursing home average of 3.2.
Meadow View Nursing and Rehabilitation led Canyon County with 122 available beds, while Wellspring Health & Rehabilitation of Cascadia followed with 120 beds for the quarter.
As of the first quarter of 2026, Canyon West of Cascadia did not receive any fines or penalties.
Canyon County, Idaho, had seven for-profit nursing home facilities in total.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the senior population is growing, even as the population of minors is shrinking. From 2020 through 2024, Americans age 65 and older rose by 13%, while the population under 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the last century, the country’s older demographic has surged from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 study estimates that close to half of those 65 and older—more than 28 million people—may require some form of long-term services or support, with a projection that over one-third will at some point need nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
